My career spans more than 45 years as an engineer, transport planner and policy advisor with both State and Commonwealth Governments and Non-Executive Director with Health Partners Ltd and Statewide Superannuation Trust. I am currently a specialist Consultant and Company Director.
Prior to my retirement from the State Government in mid 2016 I was Manager, Road Transport, Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure. I managed a specialist engineering team responsible for the development of medium to long-term strategies for capital investment in road transport infrastructure projects for South Australia and the regulation of Heavy Vehicle operations in South Australia.
Throughout my career, I have developed a wide range of valuable skills, particularly in audit, financial and investment management, risk management, industrial relations, project management, corporate governance, strategic planning, transport and land use planning, modelling and policy analysis.
Between 2000 and 2021 I as a Director of Health Partners Ltd (a Members Owned Health Fund), Chair of the Audit Committee, member of the Risk and Corporate Governance Committees (including the Remuneration and Nominations Committee) and Convenor of the Investment Committee. I was also a Non-Executive Trustee Director of Statewide Superannuation Trust and member of the Investment Committee for 10 years from 2001 to 2011.
I have a Masters Degree in Engineering, a Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering and I am a Registered Professional Engineer, Queensland; a Chartered Professional Engineer; registered as an APEC Engineer in Australia; a Fellow of Engineers Australia; a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors; a Fellow of the US Institute of Transportation Engineers; a Member of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport; a Member of the Australian Institute of Traffic Planning and Management and a Member of the Institute of Managers and Leaders.
